The new DFG research Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden, CRTD
(*www.crt-dresden.de*), focuses on fundamental research into
*Regeneration, Tissue Engineering and Stem Cells*. In a joint effort of
several scientific institutions in Dresden, we form a network of
currently 54 research groups plus commercial partners, working in the
areas of Haematology/Oncology, Diabetes, Neurodegenerative disorders,
Bone/Cartilage replacement and Cardiovascular disease. Available
immediately, the CRTD, the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus and the
Faculty of Science of the Technische Universität Dresden invite for
following positions applications from candidates with outstanding
international qualification in biomedical research to join this effort.
The professorships are tenured positions that are initially funded by
the DFG and subsequently by the TU Dresden Medical Faculty or Faculty
Science, respectively.

*W3 -Professorship "Preclinical stem cell therapy"*

The successful candidate has international reputation in preclinical
stem cell therapy, and conducts a vigorous translational research
program in one of the areas of the CRTD. The goal is to develop
preclinical cell-based therapeutic strategies using translational
models, e.g. using pancreatic islet precursors, mesenchymal stem cells
or neural stem cells. The research should include modern molecular
biology methods, immunotherapy, materials sciences or engineering
knowledge in its experimental approaches.

*W3 - Professorship "Genomics of Regeneration"*

The successful candidate has international reputation in stem cell
research, incl. embryonic stem cells, and conducts a vigorous basic
research program to understand the genomic basis of regeneration and
stem cell activity using model organisms. Improving the understanding
signals and their intracellular responses that are active in stem cell
activity and regenerating paradigms should ideally be a key activity.

*W3 - Professorship "Animal Models of Regeneration"*

The successful candidate has international reputation in regeneration
and stem cell research using vertebrate model organisms (e.g. axolotl,
mouse, zebrafish). The successful applicant is expected to complement
the existing research efforts in cell biology and developmental biology
research at the TU Dresden and its extramural partners. Consistent with
the research profile of the TU Dresden, the candidate should apply
modern cell and molecular biology approaches in his research.

The successful candidates will be encouraged to cooperate closely with
existing research groups in the DFG Forschungszentrum CRTD, the
Sonderforschungsbereich SFB 655 ,Cells into Tissues' (www.sfb655.de
<http://www.sfb655.de>), the International PhD Programme in Dresden
(www.imprs-mcbb.de <http://www.imprs-mcbb.de>) and the new MD/PhD
program in Molecular Biomedicine (www.mdphd.tu-dresden.de
<http://www.mdphd.tu-dresden.de>). The professorships will be
established at the new Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden, CRTD.
Together with eight additional new junior research groups, they will be
housed in a new state-of-the-art building equipped with a shared
technology platform. The new building will be located next to the
Biotechnology Center of the TUD (www.biotec.tu-dresden.de
<http://www.biotec.tu-dresden.de>) and the Max-Planck-Institute for
Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (www.mpi-cbg.de
<http://www.mpi-cbg.de>) on the Medical School Campus.

Applicants must have a MD and/or Ph.D. degree, postdoctoral experience
or equivalent training, and a habilitation or equivalent outstanding
record of research achievement. Candidates are committed to excellence
in graduate and undergraduate education and must demonstrate the
to establish independent, externally funded research. Applicants have
shown leadership experience as well as the ability to work as part of
interdisciplinary team. The Technische Universität Dresden is an equal
opportunity employer. Applications from women are strongly encouraged.
Preference will be given to disabled applicants with the same
qualifications. The requirements for these positions are listed in §40
of the "Sächsiche Hochschulgesetz", in the version of 11.06.1999.
Applicants should submit a CV including candidate's photo, full
publication list and a short list of the five most important
publications, description of past and present externally funded
projects and a future research plan (max. 5 pages), names of three
potential referees, and list of educational activities. Applications
should arrive by June 16th 2006 at the
