I was just wondering about the viability of the H5N1 avian influenza
virus on dead chickens. Suppose infected chickens die, and we're
unaware they're carrying the virus. If these birds are packaged for
human consumption, will humans pick up the virus?
How viable will the virus be after the birds die? Are they known to be
this way for days?
