Fish-rhabdo viruses Post-Doc offered

Dr Mike Carter M.Carter at surrey.ac.uk
Tue Jul 30 14:14:38 EST 1996

There is a vacancy for a molecular virologist (or aspiring molecular
virologist) to join a group studying RNA viruses. This project would be
determining methods for strain differentiation amongst fish rhabdoviruses,
and applying these to search for evidence of the spread of any individual
strains and the interaction between related viruses in the wild fish
population. This is a 3 year project which would start immediately and will
be run jointly between Dr Mike Carter at the University of Surrey (Molecular
Microbiology Group) and the MAFF, Fish Diseases Laboratory Weymouth. The
work would involve the design of PCR reactions, comparative sequence
analysis and also the preparation of clones for expression studies.

Applicants should have a PhD in Virology or related areas and should apply
either in email in the first instance, to: m.carter at surrey.ac.uk who can
also supply more details; or in writing. Please enclose two copies of your
cv and the names of three referees.
