POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE (Molecular Virology):
In anticipation of funding for a mult-year research project a Postdoctoral
Research Associate is wanted to investigate the role of mouse hepatitis
virus (MHV) host protein binding elements in viral replication. We have
recently identified two protein binding elements at the 3' end of the mouse
hepatitis virus RNA genome (Yu and Leibowitz, J. Virol. 69:2016-2023,1995 and
Virology 214:128-138, 1995). The goals of the project are to define the RNA
sequence requirements for binding host proteins to the 3' end of the MHV
genome, to determine the effects of alterations in protein-binding on
replication of RNA templates, and to identify and characterize the host
proteins which bind to the 3' end of the MHV genome.
Requires Ph.D., and strong research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry,
or virology. The expected start date for the position is June 1996. This research will be carried
out at Texas A&M University, one of the outstanding (tenth largest) research
universities in the U.S. If you are interested please send your CV and the
names and addresses of three references to:
