sterilization temperature

I was just thinking, How well does a home dishwasher do at sterilizing
dishes?  Does it make sense to add chlorine bleach or run dishes through
the dishwashing cycle twice?  With cold and flu season nearly upon us,
anything we can do to cut down on disease exposure would be very helpful.
