Although several attenuated live influenza vaccines have been evaluated so
far, only vaccine survived is cold-adapted live influenza vaccine
originally developed by Dr. H.F. Maassab at The University of Michigan.
Dr. Peter Wright, Vanderbilt University, summarized recent clinical data at
a meeting " Vaccine, One Hundred Years After Louis Pasteur " held at
Institut Pasteur, Paris from September 24-28, 1995. You can find one of
recent publication in JID 172:1-10. General infromation is in " Vaccine,
2nd edtion " edited by Drs. Plotkin and Mortimer, W. B. Saunders Company,
Philadelphia.
Wyeth-Lederlee has already withdrawn from the clinical development. At
present Aviron, San Francisco based bioventure, is involved in the program.
