I live in eastern Connecticut near Lyme. The deer tick (Ixodes) t onnly
carries Lyme disease, but apparently also Hanta virus. There have been a
couple of atal cases of Hanta virus infection in Long Island, NY within
the past year. An epidemiological study published in Lancet recently
found a small proportion of elementary school children in this regionn of
CT (~1-2%) have antibodies which cross react to Hanta virus.
