Re the outcomes of HCV infection:
I don't think by any means that most persons infected
develop a persistent infection. My information
(now anecdotal as I can't remeber the actual source,
it came from a conference) is that a typical picture 10 years
after infection would show some 50% of cases fully resolved,
about 15% with evidence of liver disease, and the remainder
persisently infected with no apparent signs of infection.
