There is a discussion/controversy of sorts going on on the biz-biotech
maillist about baculoviruses. Do these insect viruses (being touted as
a biologic pesticide) enter into higher animals including humans? If
so are humans or higher animals at risk of infection or deleterious
effects of any kind from these viruses?

One poster says no, the other quotes several authorities that say yes but
they do not actually infect humans by using their DNA to replicate, etc
orcause any deleterious effects. Does anyone on this panel of experts
have any light to shed on this matter?

Thank you.
