This was in this week's Science (April 7, 1995, p.19) Some Swiss
researcher in the Ivory Coast last November
was trying to figure out why the local chimps were biting the dust, so she
dissected one and came down with the virus (she's doing okay now). A virus
maven at the CDC says its the
1st human case since the 70's, but it doesn't seem as virulent as the ones
from back then. The CDC and the folks at the Institut Pasteur are still
thinking about its taxonomy.
Or at least they were as of 4/7/95.
