The Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine seeks
qualified and experienced candidates for the Chair of the Department of
Environmental Health Sciences. The department is one of seven in the
school, which has a total enrollment of ~ 1,300 students in master and
doctoral programs. The department is comprised of faculty with research,
teaching and service interests in the areas of environmental toxicology,
hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, water
quality management, environmental policy and management, and environmental
health for developing countries. Joint degree programs in environmental
health sciences are also offered with the Schools of Medicine, Engineering,
Law, and Business. Currently the department has 22 resident faculty, 14
staff members and over 100 students. More information about the school and

Candidates must have a Ph.D., Dr. P.H., Sc.D., or M.D. degree. The
successful candidate is expected to be a nationally recognized, established
investigator with extensive experience in research, teaching, and practice
in one or more of the environmental health areas noted above. An active
research program that includes extramural funding and extensive
publications is required. The successful canditate is expected to have
excellent managerial and personal skills, and to have an established record
of academic and industrial collaborations.
