Professional Experience

Drug ID International, Inc., San Diego, CA					          1994- 1996
President and Professional Laboratory Consultant

• Created a corporation for the sale of my own copyright and trademark
software 
The Quantitator® for insulin dependent diabetics. Managed a one year field
trial at Scripps Clinic, 
La Jolla, CA prior to product release.
• Corporate Consultant; set up private clinical-forensic toxicology
laboratory. 
• Professional Inspector of toxicology laboratories. 

National Health Laboratories, Inc., San Diego, CA					         1992- 1994
Technical Director to Toxicology

• Set up and validated GC/MS, immunoassay methods, reagents  and materials
preliminary to federal certification inspection of clinical toxicology
laboratory. 
• Wrote, revised and maintained the Laboratory Procedure Manual (SOP) on PC
software. 
• Supervised daily laboratory operations. Position eliminated when Company
voluntarily withdrew from the federal program preliminary to buyout by a
pharmaceutical company.  

Nichols Institute PathLab, EL Paso, TX						         1991- 1992
Director of Toxicology & NIDA Operations Laboratory

• Supervised the validation of all clinical toxicology laboratory methods,
reagents and controls in preparation for the next scheduled federal
inspection. • Developed new methods of GC/MS assay for drugs of abuse. •
Re-organized and re-wrote Laboratory SOP. • Created new computer methods
for record keeping. • Developed personnel job descriptions and training
checklists for staff of 15. Prior to inspection the Company restructured
for financial reasons and closed the toxicology laboratory. Position
eliminated three months after restructuring;  The Company was sold the
following year. 

New York State Central Reference Laboratory, New York City, NY 			         
1980- 1991
Head of Chromatography and Technical Supervisor

• Created clinical laboratory assays for therapeutic drug monitoring and
substances of abuse. • Performed specificity, sensitivity, linearity,
carryover studies. • Represented laboratory on technical matters. •
Tranined staff to use new analytic methods, instru-ments and new computer
laboratory network and information systems (CLIS)• Conducted research on
marijuana smoke components and identification of marijuana in urine using
new solid phase technology. The method received national news coverage and
became the standard for thin-layer identification of marijuana in urine. •
Held part time faculty appointment at Columbia University College of
Physicians and Surgeons. Involuntary separation; position claimed under
civil service "bumping" rule.

New York State Substance Abuse Testing and Research Lab, Brooklyn, NY		    
 1973- 1980
Senior Chemist & Research Associate in Pharmacology						

• Second shift supervisor for one and a half years at the Methadone Testing
Lab which performed 1200 to 1500 urine drug screens per day. • Promoted to
Research Laboratory. Conducted independent methods research on naltrexone
and its pharmacokinetic analysis. • Senior author of one of the few papers
on the disposition of cocaine in man. 
• Developed dye complexation method for extraction of drugs of abuse from
urine. 
• Prepard two NIH grant proposals which were unanimously approved.
