About a year ago the U.S. EPA released a report that suggested
dioxins are carcinogenic. The U. S. EPA also suggested dioxins
may have effects on the endocrine and immune systems at
levels "in the ballpark" with those currently present in the
environment.
This report has drawn much criticism and created controversy.

p. 1124 and Nature 371,p. 272.
If dioxins are really as potent as the EPA claims, then why are
the expected health effects in the most heavily exposed
individuals (i.e. in contamination accidents) not more
apparent?
