The following is a slightly embellished version of an advertisement that=
recently appeared in "Genetics" describing the availability of a=
postdoctoral position in this laboratory. It offers a good opportunity for=
a well-trained individual who is interested in the interface between=
genetics and the environment from the molecular point of view. Interested=
persons are encouraged to contact me (Iain Cartwright) directly by e-mail=
in the first instance.
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
A postdoctoral position is available immediately to pursue research on the=
study of genes
involved in individual genetic variability in response to environmental=
toxicants. Studies currently underway are based in the Drosophila model=
system and are focussing on the molecular identification and=
characterization of genes conferring tolerance to heavy metal toxicity, in=
particular lead, with a view to extending these studies to the mammalian=
situation as appropriate. Candidates should have a strong background in a=
range of molecular genetic techniques, in particular PCR, with some=
experience in quantitative genetic analysis being highly desirable but not=
absolutely required. The position is available for 2-3 years. Interested=
individuals should respond (preferably by e-mail) by sending a curriculum=
vitae, a brief statement of research background and interests, and the=
names of three references to: Dr. Iain Cartwright, Department of Molecular=
Genetics, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, P. O. Box 670524,=
