The Staden Package is now available for Linux.
With the help of Gregor Haberhauer and Frederik Lindberg we have produced a
Linux version of the package for Intel machines. It will be distributed and
supported in the same way as for the other platforms but at present is
available to those who are prepared to act as testers and to report bugs.
We used Redhat Linux 4.0, gcc, g77 and Tcl 7.6 Tk 4.2.
Also we realise that exabyte and QIC-150 are not ideal distribution media
for PC users and we will look once more into the use of CDROM. If anyone can
recommend a CDROM writing system that is quick, cheap, easy to use and
can be driven from a PC or UNIX platform we would like to hear from them.
