Help! pregap

Help! I am a Staden Pkg. novice.  We use an ABI 373 for sequencing
and I'd like to use pregap to trim my sequences prior to assembling
in a program such as xbap.  I am having problems getting pregap
to accept the output files of the ABI machine. ted accepts these
files with no problem.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
