ALF traces are compatible with TED. However, many ALF files usually come
packaged into a single file. Ted cannot understand this 'archive'. To extract
the individual ALF files from the archive file the program alfsplit should be

I'm not sure I understand this question. MakeSCF understands both ALF and ABI
files and so can produce a common format (SCF) for each.
