3-4 positions are now available for Visiting Fellowships in Canadian
Government Laboratories or Research Associates, depending on
qualifications. The successful candidates will join a collaborative team
of government and industrial scientists to undertake research on novel
constitutive promoters found in plants. The goals of the team will be to
determine the mechanisms that govern constitutive expression of cryptic
promoters; to enhance and modify the patterns of expression in plants;
and to utilize the knowledge gained for the controlled expression of
heterologous genes in crop species; and to evaluate and modify
mechanisms of post-transcriptional control of transgene expression.
Applicants must have documented experience in the areas of gene
cloning, regulation of gene expression, development of vectors or
transformation systems.
Positions are available immediately. Enquiries about Research
Associateships should be directed to Brian Miki above and preference
will be given to Canadian citizens. Applications for Visiting Fellowships
in Canadian Government Labs can be obtained from the Visiting
Fellowships Office, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council
