nematode info?

A veterinary colleague of mine has found a fine larval nematode (40-50
um diameter) in the compact dermis just under the epidermis of channel
catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) caught in the St. Lawrence River (Quebec).
histological preps show that the nematode is intertwined with the
collagen fibres. It also appears to have penetrated from the outside.
Gross morphology appears as a 1-2 mm white raised area on the skin that
was focally ulcerated and surrounding by a delicate ring of hemorhage.
Unfortunately, the collectors were not able to get any whole worms (but
they are now on the lookout!).

Does anyone out there in the etherworld have an idea what this beast
could be?
