*Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences*

The Department of Biological Sciences at the State University of New York,
College at Plattsburgh invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track
Assistant Professor, effective August 2015.  The successful candidate will
be committed to excellence in teaching and service in an institution
dedicated primarily to undergraduate education.  He or she will be expected
to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender
issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are
educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and
interdependent world.

*Responsibilities include:* A Ph.D. degree with a broad background in
neurobiology is required.  Teaching responsibilities will include
introductory courses on a rotational basis, as well as upper level courses
in the areas of neurobiology and other related fields. The successful
candidate should have a record of published scholarship and will be
expected to undertake research with undergraduates leading to peer reviewed
publications. The research program needs to be feasible for our small
undergraduate liberal arts college. The area of research should be
attractive to students preparing for professional school in the health
professions (e.g., medical technology, nursing, pharmacy, medicine) or
pursuing environmental biology or other professional work in the life
sciences. Biology faculty members have the opportunity to advise students
in the Natural Sciences MS program.  The successful candidate may be asked
to teach courses in a distance learning format.

*Required Qualifications: *A Ph.D. degree with a broad background in
neurobiology is required.  The candidate must be committed to excellence in
undergraduate teaching and include evidence of teaching effectiveness. The
successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work effectively and
collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators and have a record of
published scholarship.
