Hello,

My apologies in advance since this is not my area of expertise, however
a paper was just brought to my attention this evening that was
published this year concerning something similar to this in Eur. J.
Neuro. (2006). I do not know to what extent it is applicable to your
work, but it might provide some insight if you are not already familiar
with it.
