Spike trains obtained from a single neuron is the
result of dendritic integration of ~1000 to 100,000
of other neurons' inputs. What kind of information can
autocorrelation of a few spike trains reveal? Probably
very little...
I guess your research will be more fruitful if you
focus more on single neuron information processing.
Remember the alchemist days and how Mandalev (sp?)
discovered the periodic table based on earlier
ideas such as that water=H2O and how the ratio of H:O
is always 2:1, etc, that created the science of
chemistry we know. That was *reductionism*, versus
alchemy that experimented at a macroscopic level
without understanding the elements. That's my
opionion, anyways.
