"Top Shiite Cleric Hardens Call for Early
Iraqi Vote Sistani Reiterates Opposition
to U.S. Plan

By Daniel Williams
Washington Post Foreign Service
Monday, January 12, 2004; Page A12

Quoting from the =Washington Post= Article:

[1] "BAGHDAD, Jan. 11 -- Iraq's most influential
Shiite Muslim cleric hardened his opposition
on Sunday to U.S. plans for ceding control of
Iraq to a transitional government, repeating
his call for early elections and raising the
specter of violence if his demand was not met.

[...]

[2] Iraqi political and ethnic factions are
intensely jockeying for position in advance
of regaining sovereignty, a transition scheduled
to be completed by the end of June.

[...]

[3] Few Shiites, either religiously or secularly
oriented, who might oppose Sistani's positions
speak out against him for fear of reprisals
from his many fervent followers.

[...]

[4] Sunnis lack centralized political leadership,
and their tool of influence has been violence.
Many sympathize with the armed resistance battling
the U.S.-led occupation as a means of restoring
the political dominance they enjoyed under deposed
president Saddam Hussein.

[...]

[5] Meanwhile, Kurds, the second-largest
minority group, view early elections with fear.
They foresee losing the autonomy in northern
Iraq they have possessed for more than a dozen
years. During recent negotiations among members
of the Governing Council, the Kurds have pressed
for autonomy to be codified in a basic law that
would guide the future government."

Discussion:

I was going to do a point-by-point analysis, but am
'tired', so I'll comment, only briefly, because I've
discussed all that's inherent, repeatedly, over the
course of the last decade+, and have reiterated it,
recently, in this thread.

'absence-of-understanding' with respect to how and why
nervous systems process information, imposing dis-order
upon 'not-self', and, thereby, imposing dis-order upon
'self' - setting the stage for more bloodshed, more violence,
more destruction, more Killing, ad infinitum.

Is there anyone who cannot see that just teaching folks
how any why nervous systems process information via
'blindly'-automated TD E/I-minimization will ameliorate
all of this Tragedy, and allow our Troops to return to
their Families?

It's all that's needed.

Why, then, has such communication not occurred?

"War Shadows School Near Fort Hood
Loneliness, Anxiety Grip Students and Staff
While Family Members Are Assigned to Iraq

By Lee Hockstader
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, January 12, 2004; Page A01

KILLEEN, Tex."

Quoting from the =Washington Post= Article:

[1] "Some students are home alone because their
lone parents have been deployed to Iraq. Others
live with guardians or stepparents. When the
father of a freshman girl was killed in October,
the whole school mourned -- and feared what
horrors might occur next.

[...]

[2] Teachers report a discernible spike in
discipline and academic problems -- truancy,
trash-talking, wandering attention, poor grades.
Last month, counselors intervened in the cases
of two juniors, the children of deployed
soldiers, who they believed were at risk of
suicide; one was hospitalized."

The Cossts inherent in withholding understanding
are Massive.

Why allow such?

Why withhold understanding?

Withhold understanding, and call that "leadership"?
