Failed twice. Got a DNS lookup error the second time (didn't pay
attention the first).
Might be my ISP (although unusual if it is) so I'll try again
later, but www.sunderland.ac.uk gets the home page.

Nope, Doesn't work. Behind a firewall? Protected?
A lot of unis nowadays have internal networks not accessible
from outside: and some just block non .ac.uk addresses on a
reverse DNS lookup.
