"Of course", analogous dynamics occur within virtually all Human interactive dynamics, becoming most-pronounced when 'consensus', with respect to this or that instance of them, occurs within groups.
A typical set of instances that occur within 'science' is addressed by Thomas Kuhn, and quoted [from his The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, with permission] in AoK's "Short Paper" section. In that quote, Kuhn referred to a "transposition" and a "conversion". The gist of the quote is with respect to the difficulty inherent in achieving such.
The 'difficulty' is not a matter of "experiment", or anything else in Science. It derives, solely, in the dynamics that are outlined in AoK - the dynamics of nervous systems' processing of information.
In these 'scientific' instances, once again, the tradition of 'writing [experimental results] in stone', which is what happens when this or that is Published within the scientific laterature, greatly-augments the 'difficulty' because it often becomes the case that subsequent work is built 'on top of' this or that published stuff, and the grouped-concepts gain 'inertia' within 'scientific' endeavor.
Publishing is an absolute-necessity within Science - it's how information is diseminated. But the correlated 'inertia' is often the single most anti-Science thing that exists - which is what Kuhn was addressing in the passage quoted in AoK. As folks know [ad nauseum], it's the stuff I 'complain' about. There's this 'gang'-mentality within 'science' that perpetuates non-Scientific stuff, 'just because it's gained TD E/I-minimization-correlates within the nervous systems of folks who endeavor to do Science.
It's the single most-anti-Science stuff that exists.
Ironic, isn't it?

It's the 'science' version of Jefferson's personal dilemma.
The Same-Stuff negatively impacts every fact of Human interactive dynamics, in the Same-Way.

I Ache for him, and will while Life remains in-me - a Good Man, Knowing Good, but being unable to 'embrace' it in his behavior because the necessary enduring the necessary TD E/I(up) while he experienced "rendering useless" [AoK, Ap8] of his old, long-familiar "slavery"-correlated 'trunk-memory' stuff was untennable because he hadn't the 'luxury' of his behavior 'not-mattering' because his was so Public a Life. His Agony must've been Great.
The purpose of this example is to give folks insight into how strongly-'dictatorial' are the dynamics of 'blindly'-automated TD E/I-minimization, and how Consequential they, simultaneously, are.
The other thing is that they are extremely-commonplace.
All manner of 'inappropriate' 'trunk'-stuff dictates behavior, even as folks 'wave' high-'level' 'leaf'-stuff around during their routine interactive dynamics. And, unfortunately, such is forced to an extreme within political dynamics because politicians are subjected to almost-ever-present 'scrutiny', which maintains their TD E/I at relatively-high 'levels', which results in their being 'unable' to transition to more-'appropriate' behavioral dynamics.
And what could be is 'locked-out'.
These are the Costs of behavioral prejudice.
This is the stuff which perpetuates Tragedy within Human interactive dynamics.

This's why early-experience is important, and why 'inappropriate' early-experience is relatively-hard to extinguish. Because this stuff has not been generally comprehended, folks resort to Killing rather than 'adapting' to more-'appropriate' forms of behavior. [As I've discussed in the past, even Nature has recognized the "Tragic Flaw" inherent in these dynamics, and arrived at its solution: 'aging' and 'death', so that the larger population, as a whole, can continue to 'evolve' without being 'held-back' by folks who cling to old, merely-familiar stuff.
