Jesus confirmed that fire fell from heaven upon the Sodomites...
Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained
fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
God told Abraham that it would be 400 years before the Israelites would
come to posses the land. That means they had ~400 years to think about
what happened in Sodom.
Genesis 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed
shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them;
and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
Genesis 15:14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I
judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
It also means that people have had 2000 years to think things over. Many
refuse to acknowledge that the same attitudes exist today, and will
perhaps be the prevalent attitude when Jesus returns. They ate, they
drank, they built, they planted, they ignored God.
