I am an adoptive parent of two Russian kids which in itself proves you wrong
because THEY are here. I spent my own time in that country in the process.
I have hosted Russian visitors to this country several times. I also
regularly visited the largest Russian bookstore in the country (if not the
world) until it closed a couple months ago, and have attended a couple of
parties in the Russian embassy. And of course I speak the language, though
not very well.
And not only can >I< pick out a Russian (though I don't claim 90% success),
my kids who ARE Russian can.
