What is really sad is when you types have to work SO damned hard to find
someone to feel solidarity with - because the vast majority of people around
you would put you in your place for your radical, archaic views.
Brian, I suggest you use some of that brainpower you claim to have and look
at how ridiculous you, John, and that Mr. August character are beginning to
sound. Three, out of how many? Where the majority is more than capable of
overwhelming you with solid, factual evidence, and still you refuse to buy
it? This clearly demonstrates that (A) Either your ability to comprehend is
severely retarded, or (B) That you are SO scared of the multicultural,
multi-gender society we are developing in this world because it makes you
feel very small and insignificant.
As I said before, perhaps the three of you ought to move to an island
somewhere, where you can strut around bare-chested and pounding your pecs
over how superior you are. At least then you wouldn't face the ridicule you
are intentionally inviting.
Lastly, to put things into perspective, I quote the great Carl Sagan from
his book, The Pale Blue Dot:

how frequent their misunderstanding, how eager they are to kill one another,
how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some
privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale
light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In
our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come
from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere
else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate.
Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is
where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building
experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human
conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores
our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and
cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known
