H04 is an interesting question for the nincompoop to have referred to. It
turns out that the nation that did best on H04 was Israel, and among the
Israeli students, the girls got it right more than the boys (57.6% to 51%).

Australian, Italian, and Latvian girls also outperformed the boys of those
countries on that question. Switzerland, which otherwise dominated the TIMSS
advanced math and science results, had only 13.6% of its girls get that one
correct, MUCH worse than the US girls and Swiss boys, and much less than the
nincompoops guessing assumption. However, French boys did worse than
American girls as well, at 19.7% correct. And the Swiss boys did worse as
well, at 22.0% correct.
Overall, more students of the various countries chose answer B, which was
incorrect, than chose the correct answer (which I leave unstated in case the
nincompoop decides to take you up on your challenge - however, since the
letter answer is in the test file, you should insist that he explain it to
get credit). And those two answers accounted for 70.6% of all answers, which
negates the nincompoop's random guessing hypothesis, since one of the 4
answers was only chosen 11.5% of the time.
