Because Christians often persecute those of other denominations, nincompoop.

The Thirty Years' War was fought between various Protestant and Catholic
groups largely over the question of whether the other group was to be
tolerated in the various nations ruled by one group.

The Irish Catholics and Protestant have been fighting each other for the last
century, if not more.

The Quakers and Puritans came to American because they were being persecuted
by the Church of England.

All of these included persecutions and execution and imprisonment for those
who believed the wrong thing.
