Marie's name was added to Pierre's half of the Nobel Prize AFTER the Nobel
committee had selected other scientists, solely because a joint award is
"more satisfying from the artistic point of view".

That doesn't sound like a freebie to you?

Did you know what Marie Sklodowska (aka Curie) accomplished?  She put the
French nuclear energy program 1-2 decades behind the rest of the world which
"marked the end of the Anglo-Saxon monopoly".
