Dear Colleague,
We invite you to participate in the First IEEE International Symposium
on Biomedical Imaging (http://www.biomedicalimaging.org/), July 7-10,
2002, Washington DC, USA.
This new symposium will focus on the engineering aspects of biomedical
imaging and will promote an integrative approach through all scales of
observation. Important topics that will be covered are instrumentation
and image formation, image reconstruction, image processing, image
analysis, and visualization.
The event is an initiative of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and
Biology Society (EMBS) and of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS);
it is co-sponsored by the NIH National Institute for Biomedical
Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB).
What is unique about this forum is that it brings together researchers
and practitioners in the hitherto largely disconnected fields of
biological imaging and medical imaging. Both fields should benefit from
the interaction and cross-fertilization. We encourage you to contribute.
Best regards,
Michael Unser and Zhi-Pei Liang, Symposium Chairs.
