To follow up on the energy hypothesis - one of the latest issues of JCBFM
has an article regarding the energy required for neurons to operate - I
haven't read the review article, but it looks like a theoretical
analysis.
The issue of the BOLD effect is the subject of many discussions and, one
of the greatest debates in the MR field currently. In fact, just last
year, a full conference was held at UNC-Chapel Hillexploring different
ideas and theories behind the BOLD effect.
