With partial support from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation,
the Santa Fe Institute recently initiated a research program on
robustness in natural, engineering, and social systems. The focus is
on the phenomenology, origins, mechanisms, and consequences of
robustness.
As part of the program, a robustness web site has been set up at
http://discuss.santafe.edu/robustness
The site includes a bibliography, working definitions, case studies,
open questions, research applications, bulletin board, and
general commentaries on robustness. The site is designed with
the scientific and industrial research communities in mind as
the primary audience.
Feedback on, and contributions to, the site are welcome.
