There are several other oligodendrocyte markers and at present the most
specific would be the CNP (2'3'-cyclic nucleotide-3'-phosphohydrolase)
enzyme and the myelin marker 'Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein' or MOG.
Both of these are specific markers for the mature oligodendrocyte
population.
If you're interested in how they can be used look up papers by Richard
Reynolds (UK) and Joel Levine (USA) with regards to their excellent work
into both resident oligodendrocyte precursor and mature oligodendrocyte
populations.
