Thanks a lot. Those are good places to look. I admit that I am not familiar
with the literature relevant to this scientific discipline. I am especially
interested in knowing what physical changes occur in response to longterm
punishers.

For instance, if we shocked a dog continually as in learned helplessness,
are there any (there surely must be) physical changes in the brain that
accompany this aversive stimulus.
