Researchers T.D. Lingo and Neil Slade have postulated that the amygdala is
actually a switching station between our animal hindbrains and
human/spiritual/creative forebrains, and can be intentionally affected by
various stimulations to be "clicked forward" into higher functions of mind.
Apologies for lack of documentation, M. Slade does have a website up and
running.
