Dear Jessica,

There is a recent book on sex differences in the human brain that might address
your issue. The book is Sex and Cognition, by Doreen Kimura. The book is
discussed online in the Massachussetts Institute of technology's CogNet Forum
under Hot Topics, at
http://cognet.mit.edu/bboard/q-and-a.tcl?topic=Hot%20Science. The CogNet is
available via www.cognet.mit.edu, login with your email, then follow the links
to the Forum for Hot Science.

Another tip is that short-term memory may be affected by attention level, and
intent to remember. In general, I would say teenage guys are definitely more
"scatterbrained" than teenage girls, and this probably has an effect. Hormones
definitely affect arousal and attention in the brain.

Hope this helps.
