Hi, since I have to know something about neural cells, I would be very
grateful
if you can help me with the following.

* Should I understand Ion channels as channels, which are in the membran
of a cell
and responsible for transportation of ions, like Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+,
Cl- and HCO-3,
whereby the sodium and podassium channels are the most important? They
are responsible
for the concentration of the ions of both sides of the membran.
* The main significance for nerve cells of
K+ channels is the fast depolarization of the Actionpotential, for
Na+ channels - the fast
repolarization and the regulation of the firerate and for Ca+ -
medium depolarization and a
    long-term Actionpotentials.

Thanx for help
Christian
