Hi & greatings from the other side of the pond.
There was something on the TV this morning (Thu 6),
yup it was another sleepless night for me :-(
Anyways, they were saying that the average cost for
an hours appointment with a psychiatrist is £20,
I'm guessing that's what it costs for an NHS
psychiatrist's hour.
The said that the cost to see a private psych is £150-£200 p.h.
which for a 40 hour week is £6000 to £8000.
{I know they don't work 40 hours in a week,normally a lot less :-) }
The one I saw privately had a Jaguar XJS with a personalised
no. plate BIG EGO, I kid you not !
Which got me thinking, how did they come up with this
huge amount, and is there a regulatory body governing how much
they can charge per hour.
So, to cut a long story short, the British Medical Authority
recommend a price (yet to be confirmed) but the psych's don't
have to (and don't) stick to it.
I know about supply and demand, but with the huge waiting lists
on the NHS, (about a year) are the Psych taking the Pee?

Does it cost this much in the States, {I know you guys have
insurance cover..we do have TV over here and even E.R. :-) }

And do you think something should be done about this?

They seem to be doing bugger all, and abusing the most
vunerable and desperate people.

Me a whining Pom (Limey is it?)

All the best
Liam
