Proof that ants are conscious?

BTW, there's an article in the 24Jul99 _Science News_, "Sneaky caterpillar
makes an ant's perfume', p53, by S. Milius, that demonstrates that ants
aren't very 'conscious'.

if folks go back to my original post [and long-ago posts on the same topic,
you'll see that i was addressing a very-small, and very-particular, "realm
of 'consciousness'"... the 'decision fulcrum point of the active/passive
phase shift", which is also discussed, with respect to mammals, in AoK, Ap5
and Ap7.
