"In the Aspirin and Carotid Endarterectomy (ACE) trial, patients were given
one of four doses of aspirin (81 mg, 325 mg, 650 or 1300 mg) per day for
three days before carotid endarterectomy (CE) and three months after the
procedure. Patients treated with the two lower doses of aspirin before
surgery had less risk of stroke, heart attack or death 30 days and three
months following the surgery than did patients given the two higher doses. "
