It's called "sleep paralysis", and is happends because during sleep, your
body is paralyzed (to prevent you from acting out your dreams) and
sometimes, for some people, the brain forgets to "shut off" the paralyzis
when you wake up (this is non-scientifically speaking).
It's nothing to be afraid of, but it sure can be a scary experience if you
don't know what it is. There are ways to lift it (struggling doesn't help -
relaxation is the way to go).
