Many parts of the brain are involved in rhythms, including the cerebellum,
inferior olive, motor cortex and basal ganglia. I would think that the
cerebellum is the most important, because it is responsible for the timing
of movements. I think it also plays a major role in the timing of the
rhythm. The control of the rhythm I think would mostly be in the motor
cortex and the premotor cortex.
