I am a microbiologist. I also suffer panic disorder. Unfortunately, I went
improperly diagnosed for a number of years, and began to develop
agoraphobia. I switched doctors, and after taking a long and thorough
history, he diagnosed PD. I now take 100 mg Zoloft during or just before
breakfast. I also keep Xanax on hand, just in case.
Why is this post entitled CCK? Well, in addition to the PD, I also had
terrible acid reflux especially in the evenings and during sleep. I was
self medicating with 75 - 100 mg Zantac OTC. While I did experience the
usual suite of side effects from the Zoloft, I also had a pleasant surprise.
I noticed that I no longer had acid reflux.
Now being trained in biology, I began to investigate my correctly diagnosed
condition and its potential relationship with acid reflux. I came across
the Panic Disorders Institute. The PDI is under the direction of Stuart
Shipko, M. D.. Dr. Shipko is a psychologist and neurologist. He has been
exploring the links between CCK, PD, acid reflux, and serotonin. He can be
