I don't see it that way.
We don't have to know the state of the external influences; We simply have to
understand how the brain deals with external influences.
I agree with Stephen's concise conclusion on this same thread.
I guess we ought to be discussing this on a philosophy newsgroup, but I don't
want to get trapped in a Chinese room with a bunch of homunculi!
