This has been done clinically for about 10 years (since it was first
invented). several devices are comercially avaiable (eg, Cadwell) . There
are several books on the topic and zillions of articles. It is used mainly
for assessing the motor pathway during spine surgery and occasionally for
difficult to diagnose lesions of the motor system
