Lesions in the minor hemisphere can cause a loss of musical
ability (amusica). A stroke would be the most likely to
cause this without causing other, more noticable deficits.
 
As with aphasia (loss of language), there are different
types of amusica. Receptive amusica is the loss of the
ability to read/understand music. Expressive amusica is the
loss of the ability to perform music. I wonder if a loss
of "sense of rhythm" could be a specific component of 
amusica.
