Dear Herbert,
there is now a new surgical treatment for Parkinsons disease. Essentially,
it involves the implantation of a deep brain stimulator into the Vim
nucleus of the thalamus for tremor predominantParkinson's or into the GPII
nuc for dopa dyskinesia.
This treatment I understand is not FDA approved, so ther is very little
experience in the US on this new treatment.
But the Europeans are very active in this, and several centers have done
literally hundreds with good results.
