There are many neuroanatomical instances such as the retinal one which
you note... the retina is upside down and left-right reversed... the
primary sensory mappings are upside down and left-right reversed... such
is a "theme" that repeats over and over again... all to bring the
neuroanatomy into allignment with the "simple" TD E/I minimization
